Westside Reservoir Adventure 🌿
Everyone’s been talking about the Westside Reservoir since it opened on August 20th. We’re starting to feel the FOMO! That’s why we partnered with our favorite brewery, which is just down the street. The first 20 Wise Atlantans to show up for the plan this weekend will get a FREE beer - no strings attached! Keep reading to learn how.
You’ll start your day at the newest (and largest) park in Atlanta. After fifteen years of planning and five years of construction, we are super excited to see the Westside Reservoir finally open. There are 280 acres of green space making it the biggest park in Atlanta. It also doubles as a water reservoir and is jam-packed with walking trails, beautiful city views, and a grand overlook. 😮
The park connects Proctor Creek Greenway and the Chattahoochee River Corridor with the Atlanta Beltline. There are walking and bicycle trails, playgrounds, educational facilities, and pavilions for events. Unfortunately, water activities are prohibited in the quarry due to safety concerns but there are still plenty of fun things to do.
The most notable features of the park are the trails leading up to the overlook where visitors can check out the quarry. The park’s function is not only to provide stunning views for friends and family spending time outdoors. In fact, the quarry houses 2.4 billion gallons of emergency drinking water for the city of Atlanta. Wow! 💦
Parking: Everyone’s been checking out the Westside Reservoir Park since its grand opening - so parking has been a mess! You could spend a lot of time just waiting to drive through the parking lot. Instead, we recommend parking near the Bankhead MARTA Station and walking to the park. It’s a short walk and you’ll get a bit of exercise while saving you time in the long run. 🤷♀️
After spending some time at the Westside Reservoir Park, you’ll head over to Scofflaw Brewing for a FREE BEER. All you have to do is show them your Wise text and they’ll hook you up. (Please only one beer per Wise Atlantan but you’ll probably want to grab a few. They’re delicious!)
We love Scofflaw for a number of reasons. Not only do they have addictive brews but they are serious about connecting with the community. Did you know that a “scoff·law” is a person who flouts the law? Some might call them a hooligan but we prefer the term “Wise Ass”. Lol
There’s a flavor of beer to match everyone’s delights at Scofflaw. Some of our fan favorites:
- Sunshine Sour. Smells sour but tastes tart. Tangerine with a nice sour finish.
- Goats Milk IPA. Not too hoppy and great job blending the orange flavor.
- Hooligans. Clean and crisp. The perfect balance of sweet and hoppy!
Grab them while you can! The free beer offer is only valid on August 27, 28, and 29, 2021.

If you haven’t had the chance to check out Atlanta’s Chattahoochee Food Works, this weekend is the perfect opportunity since you’ll already be on the west side. We’ve been obsessing over Hippie Hibachi, the first-ever 100% vegan hibachi concept in the Chattahoochee Food Works.
Created by Joshua Brock after choosing to live a healthy, vegan lifestyle, Hippie Hibachi is based on classic hibachi-style cuisine. You can choose from a variety of plant-based proteins like vegan teriyaki chicken made from soy, vegan shrimp made from konjac root, Impossible, tofu or mushrooms with vegetables, fried rice, and home-made Yum Yum sauce!
